TECUMSEH 10 VERTICAL SHAFT #110104
QUESTION: Can someone tell me exactly how to disconnect the governor on this engine? It's a Tecumseh Formula 10 hp, vertical shaft model number TVM 220. I should be at 3600 rpm to be in the power band but only about 2600... already played with blade pitch to no avail.
ANSWER: No need to disconnect the governor. Take a needle nose
pliers and simply reach in to that vertical twisted arm with the
spring attached and bend it ahead slightly , thus tightening the
spring to the carburetor throttle valve. That should give you
more rpm but will also increase idle speed. Idle adjustment screw
down below will need to be turned out (left) a few turns to
reduce idle rpm. You will need either an allen wrench or six
sided bit.
